June 20 - 23 / APA Wazgoose 2019

Join us for a long weekend to celebrate the wonders and history of letterpress printing. Enjoy the camaraderie of fellow printers from far and wide, in addition to workshops, a printers flea market and auction, and related talks, as the Amalgamated Printers’ Association convenes its annual get-together in Nashville, Tennessee. And, if you’re wondering whether you are welcome to attend even if you’re not a member of the APA, the answer is yes! You are more than welcome to join in the fun.

The APA was organized in 1958 as a hobby printers group so that members could improve their skills, expand their knowledge, and exchange samples of their letterpress work. Today, the APA consists of both professional and amateur letterpress printers, who continue to exchange examples of letterpress printing and share information on sources of equipment and better printing practices. Each year, members of the APA gather to catch up with each other in person, and explore the nooks and crannies of a different city in the country, to learn more about its printing heritage.

This annual gathering is called a Wayzgoose, which is a term that used to describe a printers’ picnic or feast, usually following a day of busy activity related to getting the print shop cleaned up from a busy season of work and prepared for wintertime.

The APA Wayzgoose, while hosted by and intended to appeal to APA members, is an event that is open to all who wish to participate, to learn more about letterpress printing, take workshops, and meet and talk with a group of folks who have a wealth of knowledge to share. Please join us!
